|
|
|
Console version, not running as service:
- Download the latest version from Stanford: http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html
- Stop the current F@H console from running (CTRL + C).
- Place the executable (exe) file into your current F@H directory (e.g. FAH502-Console.exe).
- Edit the shortcuts you have created previously to the new
executable (e.g. from c:\fah\FAH4Console.exe to
c:\fah\FAH502-Console.exe)
- If you are using -forceSSE switch, remove it from the shortcut.
- Start the F@H client back up by running the shortcut.
Console version, running as service:
- Download the latest version from Stanford: http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html
- Stop the current F@H service from running by typing: net stop servicename (replace 'servicename' with the name of your service).
- Place the executable (exe) file into your current F@H directory (e.g. FAH502-Console.exe).
- Delete the old F@H executable (e.g. FAH4Console.exe).
- Rename the exe file that you have just downloaded to the name of
the old F@H executable (e.g. from FAH502-Console.exe to
FAH4Console.exe).
- 6. If you are running the clients with the -forceSSE switch,
remove it from your service launcher settings. If you have used the pK
service installer, here is a service editor that you can use to edit
the settings easily without using the registry editor (taken from:
http://www.bluetentacle.co.uk/dc/fahservice.htm)
- i) Download the service editor: http://www.bluetentacle.co.uk/dc/servicecfg.zip
- ii) Execute servicecfg.exe
- iii) Enter the name of the service you want to edit in to the "Service name" text box then hit "Find service"
- iv) If the service exists then some of the options for the service will be shown in the other two text boxes
- v) Remove the -forceSSE switch and then hit the "Update
service" button to save the changes (reset to discard the changes and
start again)
- Restart
your F@H service by typing: net start servicename (replace
'servicename' with the name of your service) or just restart your PC.
Notes:
Although the upgrade process should proceed smoothly without affecting
your current processing of the WU, you might want to backup the
directory prior to upgrading as a precautionary measure.
F@H v5 uses a different queue system (it will convert the v4 queue to
v5), so do not attempt to revert back to running F@H v4 in the same
directory as it will not work.
-advmethods should be used on Intel based machines, while AMD machines should leave it out.
