|
|
The following instructions will show you how to fold on a computer
without a direct internet connection. It is possible but will involve
quite a bit of manual work on your end. For this to work you will need
at least one computer that has some method of accessing the internet.
- Pay attention to the following configuration during the setup.
- Request work units without deadlines (no-pref/no/yes) [no-pref]?
Answer 'yes'
- MInimize networking -- get and submit work in batches (no/yes) [no]?
Answer 'yes'
- After the client has completed downloading all the WUs and begin to fold, close the client.
- Copy the whole directory/folder containing all the files to the computer without an internet connection
- Run the client on the computer without an internet connection and let it run until it has completed all the WUs.
- After it has completed all WUs, copy the directory/folder back to
the computer with an internet connection and run it there. Wait for the
client to submit all completed WUs and download a fresh batch of WUs.
Repeat the process after each cycle is complete.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Do not run the client and let it fold the same WUs on the
computer with an internet connection after you have copied to the
other computer without an internet connection. Folding@Home will be
able to detect duplicate WU and you will not be awarded
points on duplicate WUs submission.
