The folding project does not have any kind of username registration.
That means any usernames can be used by anyone. When you first run the
folding client, it will ask you to enter a username. The name that you
put in will be where the points are credited. If you do not enter a
username, points will be credited to Anonymous.
You can check and see if a username is taken by going to the Stanford's
Folding@Home download page. There is a search form for you to query usernames at the top of the download page.
Usernames must only contain numbers and letters. It cannot contain
spaces. If an email is used as the username, the stats page will only
show the first part of the name before the '@' sign.
We recommend that you use the same name as your forum name if it is
available. Please be advised that if you fold under a sub team, you will
be using a sub team common username and all points will be credited to
the sub team name. You will not be able to check your own contribution
to the sub team.
